Hands up here who gets the flu jab.......... Anyone?..... Anyone at all?

For most age groups, the flu isn't that big of a deal, so they won't get vaccinated for it. Measles, mumps and rubella, now that's worth vaccinating against.

Me. I'm in a 'high risk group' apparently, so I get one for free.

*Nods*. The ludicrous thing is it always makes me feel as bad as any flu I normally get for about 24 hours. Genuinely quite ill. To keep me from getting a virus that would have pretty much an identical effect that I might not have got anyway.

Which is why many people (such as my nan) won't have one.

I've never had one. My wife once and she still got the flu... The jab doesn't protect against "the 'Flu", but just a certain strain, the one that the medical community predicts will be the most widely spread or worst symptoms in a given year. It turned out they were wrong and the big 'Flu that did the rounds was another strain that wasn't counteracted by the antibodies generated the body through the jab.

I'm pretty sure I've only ever had the flu (as opposed to colds) twice in my life. Certainly not enough to consider taking a vaccine every year that will give me the same symptoms every time.
