switched to contactless from Oyster since the New year and saved £60 over the cost of my normal travelcard in January. Result!

Are they offering a discount if you pay by contactless then? I thought Oyster was meant to be cheaper than buying normal tickets.

Contactless is capped daily at a peak ticket and also capped as a weekly peak Oyster ticket, which I would normally buy.
So for me it's either capped at 11.70 a day, if I travel off peak, or from a different zone, I can save up to £3 a day. It's also capped at £58.60 per week, so if I use my card at the weekend, it's free / difference between weekday cost and week pass.

** this is not clear :S **

Confusing. It's almost as if they don't want people to be able to tell which is the cheapest way to travel.

It's designed that if you don't use your oyster 5 days a week to travel at peak time from zone X to zone 1, it's cheaper to go contactless.

I don't travel 5 days a week so I always use pay as you go. Wonder if it would be cheaper for me then.

And yes very confusing. Am sure they want us to pay more than we should on purpose.
