Could go to Zero but yes negative - I think its the Swedish and the Swiss currently have a negative interest rate (central back) of -0.25% so they charge you to keep your money with them

It would be... interesting. This week's budget somewhat about encouraging people to save - under certain circumstances the government are basically going to pay you to do it. But if the interest rates stay so low or god forbid go into the negative, there's absolutely no incentive for anyone who isn't getting an incentive to save...

Exactly - which is why I now buy premium bonds instead as I can always cash them in and, every now & again I get a little surprise from Ernie.
