This is England, brilliant little film, some lovely moments, some great acting. This one had passed me by; one day they will make a good English film that isn't set in the eighties, deal with Thatcher, or have Hugh Grant in it. but until then, we can enjoy gems like this.

There's a TV series follow on called This is England '86

Also if you want to try another gritty British Shane Meadows film try Dead Man's Shoes

Yeah I'm going to check those out :)

Just watched "Gone Girl", better than I was expecting.

This generation's American Beauty?

Makes me feel all warm inside that I'm single.

Dare I do "Gone Girl" and "Closer" in one night? Yes I dare, I need to feel extra vindicated for some reason.

Justice League: War - Animated film that makes Man of Steel look thoughtful. It's almost a full film of people getting put through masonry*... Has the same tonal problems n'all; you can't have both the silliness of a kids cartoon and characters who swear and say whore :lol:

* Steady, Bratty ;)

I thought I'd totally hate it, but in the end I found it to be a semi-enjoyable mess. It's basically a bunch of character actors showing off. If it had explained what was going on with Keaton's character initially it might not have seemed so wanky in places.

The Voices - rather dark but that's kind of what I was expecting for a film about someone with psycological problems who goes a bit stabby, mainly on instructions from his evil cat. Combination of bi-polar disorder and psycosis. I would be interested in hearing a professionals opinion of the portrayal of the condition(s) in the film. Thought on the whole it was a good film.

Insurgent - sequel to Divergent and carries on the story fine alothough not up to the caliber of the first film. Also pretty much entirely predicatable.
I will be thoroughly narked if they split the final part into 2 films as seems to be the way of things these days.

Gone Girl - better than expect. Won't say too much. Good evening film, pretty gripping throughout.

Perfect description of it. Its clever bits have all been done before, better.

Totally agree. Couldn't get into it at all.

Divergent - Not bad, though I took a break halfway through because I can't stand two leads dancing round each other and the film's a bit stretched. Worth watching though a lot goes unexplained - I assume this'll be tied up later in the franchise ;)
