I do like 'Spiderwoman' and 'Female Flash' (sounds especially bad).

I think we pay between 6€ and 7.50€ here for the Cinemax in Osnabrück, how much is it in England now then?

£6.50 as an average, apparently, but in reality, closer to £8.

£13 in London! Netflix and Prime are £6 a month plus you get entire seasons of TV shows... Without a full half hour of advertising. And the average film just isn't worth the trip these days. I wonder what the attendance figures are these days...

How much would you consider to be a reasonable price for a cinema ticket?
Taking into consideration site costs - lighting, heating, fire regs, maintenance, price of installing projection and sound (including alterations to the building to accommodate those and getting it certified by various organisations), the staffing costs and finally the cut that makes it's way back to the film maker.

I totally get all that, but it's reliant on what the market's willing to pay, and competition from other mediums is fierce. They'll wind up in the same position as the pubs where even the regulars are like 'fcuk this'.

It's not just the cost of the ticket either - fuel, food and drinks, parking... In reality you're actually talking about pricing out more than half your potential audience for all but the biggest films when combined with other factors like paying for TV services and internet access, or the fact you might not even remember when you were last there! You reach 'it's not worth the hassle' quicker than ever now.

All things being equal, there's next to no reason to leave the house to watch a film any more short of a cheap afternoon screening really, that's the sad truth of it :(

The big screen just isn't the lure it used to be IMO.

I don't think the cinemas can be blamed for the cost of fuel, or parking. Food and drinks have long been known to be areas the cinemas actually make their money in order to be able continue showing films.
I will be visiting a cinema this evening to see Avengers, and I'm looking forward to many other films between now and Star Wars.

Totally, but your average film goes for a rating that'll give it the most footfall in theory, meaning family viewing. That's getting less likely with every price increase; it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy with, I expect, monopolies eventually forming as the only way for cinemas to stay open. It's not sustainable at the current rate I suspect, even though the likes of you and me will still be geeking out over the next decade or so

The industrial estate where my step-daughter works had a open door day, so we got to walk around the estate and see how the different companies work.

We got a guided tour of the printing facility where she works - they make the labels and packaging for water bottles, sweets, butter etc. They print over a billion metres of plastic labels and packaging (E.g. Haribo sweets) per year and go through 1 HGV tanker full of plastic granules per day.

Very interesting.

Then we got to walk around the rest of the estate. Plenty to see and do. Lots of wheels-of-fortune to spin and small prizes to win - although most were giving away popcorn.

There was a good wine tasting stand, and as I wasn't driving, I could try a few different wines.
