Went through GDN a couple of weeks ago and before you get to check in for EuroStar there were, at the time, massive signs on the concourse about not attempting to take that sort of thing (amongst others) through.

the problem is that there's still hundreds of thousands of those everywhere in the north of France. my town was evacuated a few time when I was a kid and they found some larger ones.
