I suspect he might be ticking more than one box for some people.

my 89 year old dad prides himself with doing the telegraph crossword every day. He used to do it over breakfast but takes til mid-morning these days. Christ I cant do that

My great great aunt used to do the Times crossword in bed every night, until she was 96. After that she went a bit dotty. :(

My hair has been turning slowly grey for the last couple of decades. Doesn't bother me.

What does bother me are the odd white hairs that I get. They are much thicker, grow quicker and are therefore longer. This is especially irritating in the eyebrows, while they tend to stick out at odd angles as well. I pull those out to keep the eyebrows tidy, but otherwise I don't do anything to cover up the grey hairs.

I'm also going thin on top, so I keep contemplating a Number 1 - I had that about a decade ago, but it was growing back when I met my wife and she doesn't want to see me with a Nr. 1 yet; although she keeps going on about my helicopter landing pad...

Ear and nasal hair are more of an issue with age.

Yeah, you could stuff a pillow with the amount of ear and nose hair I seem to produce since hitting 40!! :-D

I started going bald, well thinning hair, in my mid-twenties - which made me very self conscious at the time. Thanks, Dad, for that particular gene trait. My hair has almost gone on top, just get a grade 2 and it doesn't really bother me as much now. Nothing I can do about it so just go with the flow.

As you are friends with him, could you give him a slap from me and tell him it is Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy, NOT Dr. Spock.
Thanks.

I had a no. 1 head for about 8 years, so when the time comes, which will probably be in the next 2 years, I'll go for the Bruce Willis look. My partner doesn't look forward to it, but it is inevitable.

The ear hairs are coming along thick and fast these days. I'm sure the body could do something more useful with the proteins, such as repairing other tissues.

I forget which comedian said it but as men get older their hair falls through the top of their heads and out through the nearby head holes.

I'm fat and have receding hairline.
I won't be wasting time trying to look like George Cloony.

I'm ageing as gracefully as I do everything in life...not very :D

My hair grew back in grey after the chemo, I left it for a while 'cos I was hoping for a silver fox to develop ala Helen Mirren, but what I actually got was more distressed badger. I couldn't stand looking like either a librarian or my mother as my hair grew back, so I mohawk'd it and dyed it purple. It looks awesome!!

I have a similar problem except that my hair isn't receding - it's getting more and more sparse with every passing day.

Anyway, [LIFTED] George Clooney and the horse he rode in on. The only character he ever plays is George Clooney.
