By the looks of things, either there were some lazy contractors who left tools lying around, there was someone on the take, or they had an outside colleague help them by supplying the tools. I imagine work would have been done at the same time as contract work to disguise the noise but still imagine it must have made a fair racket. _________________ He fights for the users.

I'm assuming they got hold of the contractors tools as smuggling in different tools should be impossible.
Would the contractors be working at night? If not, they should have been easily heard while escaping.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were required to work at night, as in most prisons the population are locked in their cells at that point so there's reduced risk of escape (ha ha).
