Wow. Just wow.
In a similar vein, I heard of a student who hid his dyslexia until his final year of the degree. Assessments were made, help offered - all of which was refused because, hey, he'd made it this far without it, right?
Until he failed.
Then he approaches the university in question and makes a complaint that they hadn't supported his disability.
The university wrote a cheque for £10,000 to make him go away, rather than face a legal dispute. It worked.

I worked for a company that prints currency for other countries.

The daughter of a Russian bank director was studying at Oxford and on the day she had to hand in her dissertation the hard iitdrive borked and she couldn't read the documents! Her father rang one of the directors of the printing company, they couriered the drive to us and we had to try and rescue the data.

I spent most of the day with various tools and the drive stuck in another machine. Luckily it was mainly the boot sector and FAT that were scrambled, so while it was difficult to get the document back, we did manage it. The formatting was scrambled and a good part of the time was spent putting paragraphs back together and correcting corrupted words, but I managed that as well. We then printed it, bound it and couriered it back to the student and she just made the deadline.

Saw a trailer for the new Jurassic Park. Didn't really want to, but that's cinema screens for you. I think I've possibly seen every action and comedy beat the film had now. Even worse, it was so badly stitched together it made the whole lot look seriously dull. Who the fcuk is editing movie trailers these days? Some films are just crap or have something it would be difficult to 'package', but some of the efforts in recent years are just inexcusable. How can you look dumber than something cobbled together in a bedroom for Youtube?

I love it.
Ernie, out of interest, could you provide a trailer which you consider to be good please?

I don't have to - something short that doesn't show you ALL the best bits of a film is usually good. There's a load of ways to do that. A hint of the characters/synopsis with building flashes of action, an intriguing/cliffhanger ending, even a series of smaller trailers. Hell, you don't even have to explain what's being shown if you can actually find someone who's on less caffeine than me!

Re. Jurassic Park. There are perfectly good trailers for that film. Indeed, I was probably gonna go see it. Yet the trailer I just saw made the film look like a really high-end Syfy show it was so badly thrown together. And now I'm gonna hope that most of it leaves my head for when I probably catch it on Prime.

It's just that all I hear is "I HATE TRAILERS THEY ALL SUCK" but never "THAT'S HOW YOU MAKE A TRAILER MOFOS".
I was just interested to see what you considered a good trailer. :)

Let's consider what trailers used to be: Get Carter (1971)

Whatever your view on that, most trailers didn't appear to have Telly Savalas on voiceover

You've picked the one series I'm about to revisit! I might be on a series kick after the Mad Max trilogy, but we'll see...

I remember being genuinely scared of the first film when I saw it, loving some of the action in the later ones, and laughing my head off at... was 6 the almost pure dark comedy one? The final one wasn't half as interesting as it could have been but probably led to Scream I spose.

I don't wanna know! And I've just realised you can't really judge a trailer after having seen the whole film, never mind having seen it decades ago!

And 80's synth trailer music? Good fcuk...

Best trailer quality to [LIFTED] film ratio has to be Superman: Man of Tights... Steel.

Specifically.

This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTm_yGTSGFo

It's approximately a million times better than the actual film. I get more from this trailer than the entire feature. They should make it again like this.

After I watched the film, I realised why the trailer was so good; because they didn't include any of the actual film in it. I think they just put The Bridge of Khazad Dum over a Sigur Ros music video.

The thing with that trailer is somebody had the wit to make it about hope right at the end when it mattered. Maybe it was even Snyder, but Snyder then made an entire film that had hope written through it like a stick of rock (the genius opening with Crowe, the actual symbol on Supe's chest) drown in a sea of muted colours and cod dialogue. I still laugh at the thought of Costner's inept Pa Kent.

Driving to work yesterday and the water temperature alarm went off. :(

Luckily just as I was passing the exit on the ring road for the industry estate and there was a garage a few hundred metres further on.

Looks like the temperature sensor is defective and it the EMU needs a software update... :? Tried to get Citroen to do it under warranty, but it isn't covered. If it needs a software update, it sounds like it is a bug and that should be under warranty!
