Is there any way to stop people I am Fb friends with from calling me? I am perfectly happy to chat with them in person and to even text with them, but I don't want the buggers to actually make calls to my mobile - especially as I haven't given them my number.
I don't want to block them entirely, I just want to globally stop my Fb contacts from calling me on my phone.

Do you mean via the app? Or just not putting your phone number on the FB page?

The app. Fb doesn't have my number, I made sure of that a while ago. Mark

If Facebook doesn't have your number, how can people can through the app?
Disable the app. I did. It wanted far too many permissions.

Never installed it. Never will.
Is it a separate permissions issue for the messenger app, Mark? I find it a little strange that people can call you straight from Facebook...

It's just VOIP via the Messenger app. Like Skype or that other app on your phone that uses a unique 11 digit identifying number for all your contacts, and you can talk to them through that too.

Aside from deleting the app or disabling all notifications, it seems that the only way to stop your Fb friends from voice calling you is to mute them in the app, which also stops you getting message notifications from them. I don't want to stop receiving message notifications from them, so I'm just going to have to live with the fact that they can call me and I'll just have to reject their incoming call request. Not ideal, but there you go.

As the good Prof. just explained, it is just VOIP through Fb Messenger. Just because the app requests permission for a bunch of stuff, you don't have to grant it that permission. Deleting the app. isn't something I want to do as it keeps me in contact with a lot of people. Mark

I think you know as well as I do that my friends would see that as an open invitation to do exactly the opposite. (8+p Mark
