Company management want us to record all time spent on tasks, if you don't record it, you will get a written warning.

Gah!

Well that's a blindingly stupid decision. Virtually every task has some sort of generic admin sitting behind it.
Before I escaped into my current job we were getting an electronic timesheet system but even the idiots in charge accepted the need for non-chargeable admin and housekeeping tasks. The objective was to log 80% chargeable time so you had a buffer for housekeeping and also as a contingency if something went wrong and had to be repeated.

I'm lucky to get 50% billable at the moment. I am supposed to be doing support, project management, data protection and customer documentation, but I spend most of my time doing translations of marketing material into English at the moment, plus internal documentation, plus purchasing, plus internal training, plus special projects for the CEO, plus emails in English, plus research for special products for internal use and and and...

Both me and a colleague had a 1 to 1 with our manager on Friday, (seperately) and she told both of us that there is too much office banter.

"Now obviously" she said "I don't you having a little fun..."

Oh dear. Seems that there is now a cap on the amount of fun we can have.

Let's take bets, kids. What are the odds that this is going to slow me down? I actually see it as a kind of challenge. I would honestly like to see them start disciplinary action because I'm having too much fun in my job. This should really have gone in the Something that made me laugh thread...

I wouldn't even call it banter. That was her word. It was perfectly harmless joking amongst colleagues. Five men and 1 woman, who, for the record, is capable of being a potty mouth when she wants to. Nothing racist, or sexist is joked about, and nothing is said that I wouldn't repeat in front of my grandmother.

The fact that she didn't speak English probably helps! ;)

That was meant as a joke. It is all harmless and innocent.

More 4.
They took the time to sensor the swearing on the subtitles on a documentary last night, but didn't bleep out the audio.
Prewatershed too.

Funnily enough, it's ridiculously difficult to find, never mind engage, Royal Mail's 'We gave your parcel a good thrashing' process...

There's nothing like waiting 6 hours to play a game you've just bought because the 3Gb patch is on a system apparently from the 90's.

Why are Doctor's surgeries reception staff utter [LIFTED] [LIFTED]? I've had enough run ins with them but today took the biscuit. The wife needs her repeat prescription. On the 2nd page of her prescription are the details of this and a little tick box to order said item when required. This paper then goes into a little box at the Doctor's until the new prescription is ready to collect, normally within 48 hours.

She has a slight problem this month in that she's lost the paper. She called the Doctor's to ask if they can action the repeat and she'll be by in a few days to pick it up. Obviously they can't. What they say needs to happen is she goes to the surgery (a couple of miles away), gets a reprint of the prescription, ticks the box in the 2nd page to 'order' the repeat, pops it into the box on the reception desk then goes away for 48 hours until the new prescription is printed.

That's not right. She should by now be able to: telephone for a repeat prescription (which they should have offered to do there and then), order online (I think it's almost mandatory to now offer online access to notes including repeat prescriptions - there is a deadline for this), hand in a blank piece of paper with name, DOB and requested items. She definitely should not have to pick up a new right-hand side to request repeat items.

Furthermore, more chemists are doing electronic prescriptions so she should be able to go to a chemist of her choosing, set things up with them, they liaise with the surgery and every time your wife needs a repeat, she gets it from the chemist - some even do the ordering on your behalf - and means she doesn't need to go anywhere near the surgery for repeat items. Only works if the surgery software supports it.

EDIT: Complain.
EDIT 2: What does your practice leaflet & website say about repeat prescriptions?

When the wife needs a repeat prescription all she has to do is give them a piece of paper with her name, address, date of birth, today's date and the words "Full repeat prescription, please" and her signature.

It is available to pick up 48 hours later.

Just started doing that too. Go to practices' web page, fill in a form (basically tick 'same as before'), prescription is ready to pick up at the pharmacists three days later.
