Hi,

Long story short is we need to buy a new microwave, and I was hoping that you would be able to offer some suggestions. There are a couple of requirements...

We want a touch control. No dials for us!

I would rather not have one made of plastic, but that's not a deal breaker.

20 litre capacity and big enough to fit a dinner plate, please!

Oh, last thing... not silly money! I'm looking at £60 or £70 quid tops, though this is also negotiable.

Thanks. :D

We got given one as a housewarming gift. If you cook something for 2 mins, it's nuked. 900W. No dials. Touch settings. But opens with a push button. Will find the model in a sec.

Thanks, Mr Wolf, and no, Mark, I didn't. You do realise that links like that are going to get me killed, don't you? ;)

Edit to add suitable emoticon.

Okay I think my one exceeds your specs and price:
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/household- ... 5-pdt.html

900W
30 litres
touch interface

Great for parties and guests but almost overkill for daily use. I stuck some left over curry in it for 2 mins (what I've always done with the microwave in 'rents house). Half of it was cooked to the point it had dried and hardened. The other half was edible but it's something that we need to adjust to using.

JV just take the Mrs to the shops and let her pick one. You know she's always right anyway.

The one I have is not just a microwave but a grill and an oven too. They can do all sorts these days.

That is the current plan, but I was hoping to get some user opinions. She definitely does not want a microwave with a grill or any other extras... she has specified that, at least.

Well I can't remember which brand mine was but it's dead posh. I can take pics later if you want.

Embed up buying a Panasonic NN-E281M from Currys. Only cost about £70 and it heats stuff up, so that'll do. Also had to buy a new hoover. Picked up a Hoover, (can't remember the model at the moment) and that also cost about £70. It picks up stuff off the carpet so, again, that'll do.
