I've seen the name but I couldn't tell you a thing she's sung. Or pretended to.

So after years of rubbish broadband at my parents (3 meg max) there is now fibre broadband available. The street cabinet it's at the top of their street and the BT speed tester it's indicating 77 - 80 meg download.
Even allowing for a bit of drop off in that speed that would be up to 20x faster. Will my dad get it? No, because it'll cost a whole £5 a month more

So tonight I looked in my fridge to see what I could make for dinner. The ingredients suggested a stir fry was a good option. I had some veggies from my organic veggie box (yes I am that middle class), some chicken and some noodles in the cupboard.

So I chopped some of the veggies (mushroom, peppers etc) and carefully washed half of the pack of spinach because it comes straight from the ground and is a bit gritty. I cooked the noodles and set them aside. Then I got the wok, heated the oil and started with some ginger, garlic and some spices. One by one I added the ingredients in the order they needed to cook properly, finally adding in the noodles to reheat them before serving along with some hoisin sauce and a little sesame oil for flavour.

Unfortunately, the meal turned out to be less appetising than I'd hoped. Can you tell why?

By any chance did you forget to cook it?

Not quite that bad. I had the washed spinach on one bowl and the remaining unwashed spinach in another bowl, and of course I cooked the wrong bowl of spinach. Not pleasant :(.

I'm sorry, but that's one of the funniest articles I've read for a lot of reasons
Man puts explosive thing on his head and dies: "BAN ALL EXPLOSIVE THINGS!!!"

Man points explosive thing at lots of people and they all die: "well, they should have also had explosive things."

Murican logic at its greatest.

It would have been nice if my Doctors surgery warned me that my doctor of the last 13 odd years had left at the end of May. I mean warned me before I phoned up to make an appointment and was told by the receptionist. Especially seeing as he's still listed as being there on the practice website.

Why? What were you expecting? A telegram?

At least for the last ten years, you were never registered to a single GP but to the practice. This was due to Govt meddling. Prior to this, GPs had patient lists. If you registered with a GP, that was the doctor who you generally saw and was in charge of your care. Then Govt wanted to separate with doctor-patient relationship so that private companies could take over the practice and the practice-patient relationship was maintained. The Govt last year wanted all patients over 75 to have a named GP and now this year is now going full circle and wants everyone to have a named GP. A bit like before.

When asked for official purposes and on forms "who is your Doctor" I simple say "whoever is working there that day."

It has been many many years since I've had a single, regular Doctor.

I've just been very lucky then.
With the exception of a specialist in something specific I've had the same doctor for 13+ years so I guess I must have started with a named GP and then just kept hold of them by stubbornly refusing to accept that the system had changed.
