Whilst I'm really no connoisseur it struck me as being a pretty good list on the whole. There are definitely some people I'd have higher in it, but there was no one I was left thinking of at the end that wasn't there at all.

The alien, is it? Simon Pegg movie IIRC. Bros before hos No, the problem is historically female characters tend to be damsel or femme fatale, and most of the people voting are likely to be blokes since even Hollywood has just realised women have eyes... I haven't finished reading the list but I'd add Furiosa (C. Theron) from Mad Max. Apart from James Cameron films I really struggle to think of good female characters, but then I tend not to have seen 'the classics' either. The result is I could fill the list with blokes just from Arnie or Tarantino first! I also noticed how many characters are from the last decade or so, suggesting younger voters.

Yeah, I just assumed this was an Empire staffer's afternoon (with tea breaks) of work to fill a blank page during the summer drought...

FASCINATING FACT: Fox had to offer the role (John McClane) to Frank Sinatra first, as technically Die Hard is a sequel to 1968’s The Detective.

A lot of WTF? characters in there, like Optimus Prime, Groot, Gromit, Woody. Well, Woody might be borderline, but I can think of lots of other characters that are more worthy.

I'd say George Bailey should be right at the top but then he's not an action man or a superhero. It really does sadden me what people class as a 'good' film these days. I thought it was him but wanted to check
