Not the best study in the world lol, but certainly fits my experience. We have an enormous tower fan going on one side of the room while the women are putting on portable heaters on the other side... And yes, it was around 25 because the fan said so

We're talking about a room filled with people and tens of computers and screens here. Slow metabolism or not, I think it's maybe time to eat a bit more, especially if our half-frozen male boss with the sensitive gut is anything to go by recently...

25C?! I'd be dribbling sweat into my keyboard and quite probably asleep at the temperature. Mind you, I can't pretend I'm not very well insulated.

Yeah I think I prefer something like 18C, I'm quite unpopular at work sometimes.

18/19 lover here too. Anything over 20 is crazy!

I always get "I'm cold" at home, even when it is mid 20s. Then it hits high 20s and its too hot!

Preferably under 20C for me, we have two women at work who are cold no matter what the temperature, they'd like it about 30C if they could - I get uncomfortable over 20C. We're opening windows at our side, they're sat with their coats and gloves on at the other side! The fact is they chose to sit underneath the air con vents, then somehow we all have to suffer because they're cold.

Madness!

Colder the better - at least in my old job I looked after the small server room and that had its own A/C system so I could go into there dial it right down to cool off

I tend to find that it's not so much the heat as the humidity here in East Anglia that's the main problem in the summer and you can't really do much about that by opening the window (other than make it worse).

At full capacity we've got 5 men and one women I my office.
If we have the AC on it's usually set to between 18 and 20C. I sit right underneath one of the units so it can get pretty chilli although that suits me fine for the most part. The sole woman sits at the far end of the office from the AC unit above my desk and if it's on it does blow in her direction so she frequently puts on a cardigan and takes sporadic glee in putting her freezing cold hands on me (I believe you're cold, there's no need to demonstrate ).
It swings the other way during the winter as I'm also sitting next to one of the two big radiators in the office. This has an effectively binary control system - it's either off or belting out heat at a great rate of knots so I tend to get a rather hot left leg. We often end up with the AC unit on in heat/fan mode to try and distribute the heat more evenly about the office.

Now there's a 'sexual harrassment at work' claim in the making...

I'm frequently amazed this place hasn't vanished into a sexual harassment lawsuit vortex already.

I must be one of the lucky ones; nobody really complains about the temperature. Our building has a management system which controls the temperature to 19C across the entire building, some bits get warmer in the direct sunlight and some bits are cooler due to the shadows, but we put fake thermostats on the wall so that people feel they have some control over their environment and they are able to open the windows to get air in if they need to.

We occasionally have trouble during the winter, but there is a 'team cardie' that gets shared around if anyone gets chilly and it taken home and washed each week by somebody, I also have a small number of desk fans that people can sign out from reception if they really need to. Also sometimes our pregnant ladies have trouble regulating their temperatures, but it usually that they're too hot, not too cold!

Since when is this new?

It's been this way for at least the 15 years I've been working. As men, we adapt and deal with it.

It's easier to put a jumper on and warn up than it is to cool down if you're hot.

My workplace is generally colder rather than hotter for me - I work nights and it is an open-plan office.
I'm here now with a t-shirt under a shirt and I'm feeling chilly.
During winter time there's nights it is almost intolerably cold in here, and that is with a fan heater on full for most of the shift.
I envy night workers that have proper facilities.

It was 25C in the office today, the blokes were sitting there sweating while the girls actually had heaters going... We're due some bad weather of course that has started tonight. We'll see how that plays out tomorrow.
