I think a lot of Hammond's annoyance factor has to do with that God-awful hair of his

Kinda - let's not forget Captain Slow is no advert for hair care products, either. Nor Clarkson, for that matter!

True, but you expect it from those two, really. And strangely, of the three, Hammond looks more and more like he's having a mid-life crisis

In the interests of balance, although quite by chance, I have just sat through the latest incarnation of 5th Gear...

 :o  :x

It's an hour, give or take commercial breaks.

The studio segments are based on a pair of leather sofas.

There are almost as many presenters now as audience members on TG.

Frankly, while it was blokey in a forced way, it was as dull as ditchwater, and a shameful knock-off of the Beeb's better alternative. Please bear in mind, when complaining about Top Gear, it is several continents ahead of the nearest opposition.

I have also watched 5th Gear.
Yawn.
Caffeine Free Diet Top Gear.

Also, in their crash test of a Mondeo into the back of a tractor - Oh noes! Mondeo man might be hurt! Nothing mentioned about the poor sod who might have been perched atop said tractor, who I'm guessing would have had much more to worry about than a broken leg.

I'm shocked you're only finding that out now ;) , but TG definitely isn't as good as it used to be recently...

It's an hour, give or take commercial breaks.

If you take the commercial breaks away, it's nowhere near an hour. The Gadget show is the same. 'Hello! On these week's show some stuff about tech/cars but before any of that - time for a break!' I think at most it's about 8:10 when the first break arrives. And they have at least 3 more in the show.

It could be worse, it could still be being broadcast from The Ace Cafe. Having Tim Lovejoy involved. A man who admitted neither knowing anything or caring about cars. Absolute car crash television, if you'll excuse the pun.

And probably as many as in the TV audience of FG. I do kind of miss VBH though.

Top Gear could steal the 'cheap alternative' idea. And Tom Ford is actually quite a good motoring journo-he writes for the top gear mag too. Other than that, the show's a dead loss.

I'm a big Top Gear Fan and always have been and as far as I'm concerned the best thing to come out of the show recently is James May. The bloke has such a wide range of interests and is knowledgeable and funny with it, I'm sure everybody would love him as a friend.

He just puts a new spine on facts that are normally border line boring, the space ones he done recently were a great watch and completely absorbing.

Agreed.

I've been watching all the space stuff recently. Brian Cox did a good one too.

I think she needs a better agent or something, or at least more pics like this:

Actually, I have a feeling she's scaled back her workload after having children, so it's more a case of her not wanting to work than her agent being rubbish.
