What, convince her to go a long, long way away from London?

Well played sir, well played.

Come on Wales!

EDIT : ARGH! Disallowed goal in the last minute of injury time, would have taken Wales to Euro 2016...

What rocks: I've been offered an interview

What sucks: It's in UAE and I haven't been able to sort out my visa issue.

Still, I'm going to it anyway. You never know.

Is it possible to change the homepage on Chrome?
It keeps defaulting to the Google search and that's not what I want it to do.
I have set it to always show the home button, and under that setting I have set the homepage URL to what I want, but after closing and then relaunching the browser, it still goes to Google search as the homepage.

On your computer, in the top-right corner of Chrome, click the Chrome menu > Settings.
Under "Appearance," check the box Show Home button.
Below "Show Home button," click Change to choose your homepage.

Already done that, but it's not working.

Can't do that as I'm in work and it has things open that I need to be monitoring.
Perhaps at the end of this shift tomorrow morning.

Is it a 'work' version of Chrome maybe? Basically a part of your intranet?

Nah, it's a stand-alone install.
I only need it for one contract, so I thought setting the homepage to the URL I need to use would be a simple job.
*sigh*

So I took a deep breath and retraced my steps. When I first visited the hate site, I saved the link because the information I wanted was actually on that site, even though I planned to check every detail since there is no trusting such things. Because there is no “Send > Shortcut to Desktop” in Chrome — a feature of Internet Explorer I have used for years — I drag and drop the [[favicon]] (page icon next to it’s address, usually a blank page with the corner folded) to a place on my desktop for later reading or archiving. Except my mouse was glitching and I couldn’t drag it more than a short distance before involuntarily un-clicking.
How I fixed it

I went to the page I wanted back as my home page and I dragged and dropped the [[favicon]] onto the home button of the toolbar. It worked!

Apparently, Google uses two alternate definitions of “home page”. There’s the page “On Startup” and then the page it takes you to when you click the home icon, for which there apparently is no setting.

No point in repeating the whole text, will that work? I don't use Chrome...

That didn't work specifically, but it aided in finding the solution, thanks.
I was specifically looking for homepage (which pretty much every other web browser in the word has - EXCEPT CHROME!) so I went back in to the settings and I spotted the 'On Startup' section, which has a sub section - 'Open a specific page or set of pages'. *sigh*
Gee, thanks Google, for making something which should be straightforward really quite not so easy.
