For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat
And suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat
And suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine
And suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine
And suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats
And suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like.Speaking American is apparently what kills you.

You call that English?

Try explaining to an American why saying that your wife has a nice fanny is likely end up with him eating hospital food!

Ok, I don't understand that one. An American is no more likely to say that than an Englishman is to, using the anglo version.....

I agree that Americans do use the language slightly differently according to where in the US you go, but the same can be said of the English depending where in England you go. English is different all over the British Isles but that doesn't mean the language isn't classed as "English"

Personally I think it have deviated enough to be classed as American rather than English

You can all think what you like. I work for an American company and one of the requirements when joining, no matter where you work in the world, is you have a good command of the English language so we can comminicate on a global level. Yes they may have changed words and have their own take on it but that's no different to the regional accents within the United Kingdom.

America didn't create it's own language. Do Australians speak Australian? No it's their own brand of English.

Sorry you won't budge me on this one.

No, that's not on the list.

Interestingly, the two medications I took for my round of chemo are both on there.....

A lot, certainly of older type, of chemotherapy drugs are themselves either mutagenic or carcinogenic if given to to people without cancer as their mode of action usually involves disrupting cellular replication or causing cells to die. Cancer cells replicate, generally speaking, much faster than non-cancerous cells which is why the chemo drugs damage or destroy the cancer at a faster rate than the normal cells. The normal cells don't however get off undamaged which is why you get the frequently horrible side effects of chemo drugs.
More modern anti-cancer drugs are far more specific than the older ones and the general aim is to key them into something specific about the cancer cells or another route is to disrupt the cancer cells ability to interfere with the immune system. Tis fascinating stuff to be sure.

Well, Loretta Swit managed to get Terry Wogan to go red. She was doing an interview just after the end of M*A*S*H. She delivered an anecdote about how Harry Morgan used to pat her on the fanny... Terry almost fell out of his chair!
