Arrow - finally, a good episode. Lots of great little moments of character interaction, though Laurel is becoming annoying again. And it's definitely the actress :(

Flash - Another good episode after some dire ones, but the show's starting to take liberties with it's logic. Previous events are being ignored or forgotten about, and with this sort of show that will eventually become a real problem.

Gotham - A mixed bag as usual. At least one truly annoying character is dead... Some of the scenes are so well shot that they get your adrenaline going, only for a boatload of ham and cheese to arrive next, or something monumentally stupid. I mean the show keeps having big dumb shoot-outs at the halfway point almost every episode now. And this week's was spectacular in that sense. It's still jumping from horror to comedy within individual scenes - a bit more care and the show could be spectacular, but that'll never happen while it's introducing fetishized characters at a rate of knots.

SHIELD - Cracking episode, back on form with last week seemingly being a turning point even though this show only touches on that.

Supergirl - Far better episode than the pilot now that they've got all the introductions out of the way. Seems to be finding it's feet with both the action scenes and the comedy, though they really need to sort out her colleagues at the newspaper... Calista Flockhart's character is supremely one-note for one thing, and there's some seriously enforced cheesiness with the others.

The GoCompare advert (the one with the train in it) uses a car which I am convinced is Bergerac's car - Jersey plates and all.

ITN's Tom Bradby hits back at Huw Edwards in 'battle of the bongs' | Media | The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/n ... ews-at-ten

Bradby might be right - I caught his show the other night and clearly everyone had got a memo telling them to personalise their contributions, ranging from their behaviour to what was being said. There was a lot more straightforward opinion on every subject going. Fox News-lite could be just the thing to challenge the impartial, scared of it's own shadow BBC...

Hemlock Grove, now that's how you end a show.

Yep. Here it is, a new Star Trek TV show is in the works.
The new Trek show will be set in the new films universe, and apparently doesn't include TNG characters - according to Michael Dorn.

It would make a lot of sense. Cheap, new actors. A link to the films' audience without having to do too much, and you can make it as mainstream as possible with an essentially new beginning.

Yeah, no mahoosive backstory to get bogged-down with complicated histories.
Entirely new beginnings.
As much as I enjoyed Enterprise, it was constrained because of what came before it, setting out the path it had to take.
Whatever this new show does, it'll invariably be compared to something else the shows past have done, so they might as well just accept that and get on with making whatever it is they are going to do.

I guess the BBC are hedging their bets that everyone will be saving their money for the next day to take a trip to the cinema so people will want something to watch the night before. *shrug*

Supergirl Just Saw Another Major Ratings Drop
http://www.cinemablend.com/television/S ... 98207.html

The most interesting thing about that is it's getting better numbers than Gotham but is still considered to be struggling. Gotham doesn't know what sort of show it is FFS, but up until now I thought it did decent numbers. Even truly sh1tty season one got both viewers and studio excited. Two is actually quite a bit better while still being a mess. So I'm not convinced Supergirl is truly struggling, and it's all studio-relevant anyway. For instance what works great for The CW is a disaster for CBS.
