Eh gad the broadband and associated wifi at my parents is awful. A blistering 3.5meg download (shared by up to 5 people sometimes) on a 3 year old TalkTalk router that seems to have religious objections to my iPad as it won't stay connected if it goes to sleep... Or if it's being used sometimes as well. The irritating thing is the live less than 100 meters from the street cabinet which has finally been enabled for fibre. I'm pretty sure they would get close to the max speed if they upgraded (and would need a new router to handle it as well). I've only been suggesting they go for it for 6 months so I guess it hasn't quite sunk in yet

Argh! NHS Choices appear to be actively encouraging me to miss an appointment by sewing confusion and disinformation. So, my Doctor referred me to see a physiotherapist about some lingering back pain that I've got. Physio services in the NHS are pretty stretched so it too months for the actual appointment to come through. Unfortunately the appointment that did eventually turn up was for the 10th of December and I'm on holiday in Scotland this week so can't make it. I went online to cancel the appointment a couple of weeks ago and gave the dates I was unavailable. It looked like it worked online but other than the acknowledgement screen I didn't get any other confirmation. Spool forward to Monday this week and I get a text reminding me of my appointment on the 10th, the one I thought I'd cancelled. Argh! I don't have any of the paperwork with me but, not wanting to waste a physio's time I phone up the Choices number hoping that they'd be able to find my details without the reference number. They managed eventually but it took a few goes. So, my 10th appointment had indeed been cancelled and a new one booked in January (yay). So, all being well I figured it was sorted. I have subsequently now received two new text reminders for what appears to be two back to back appointments on the 10th of December. I tried, I really tried. I hope this is just some issue with the text service because I'm not going to the surgery on the 10th and I'm not phoning them again. Oh, and I can't just phone my surgery (where the appointment actually is) as they don't have access to the physio's appointments so can't help (tried that already).

Yes, but you had a choice, and that's what's important.

Hmm, Now, it may just be my phone being weird but I don't think so. I have got a new mobile phone and it takes a nano SIM. My existing phone has the next size up SIM card and I didn't fancy trying to trim it down to size so I phone my provider up to ask for a new SIM to be sent out. They said it would take 3 to 5 working days to arrive but would auto activate when I put it in my new phone and my old SIM card would deactivate at the same time. This all sounded fine. Shame they seem to have switched off my existing SIM card this morning and the new one hasn't arrived yet It better have arrived today or at a push tomorrow morning otherwise I'm stuck with a mobile phone that can't do things like make calls and text messages. Grrr
