Having a RSS link would help others as well?

I'm on another forum which has RSS on all forums. Then again, I'm not sure I'd want the amount of traffic this site seems to generate!

Yes but it only has to be for new topics. Not new posts. The dennis site had it and there were only 20 or so per day and that was for all the sites. If you include all the random topics it might add up but then they will not appeal to everyone so some will get skipped at that stage. Once they had responded then they would get email responses to those topics only.

To my knowledge, the Dennis site only had RSS for news. I'd want it for everything, so I can have new topics and all posts pushed to me.

I don't really like the idea of only new topics being RSS fed, then having emails for follow-up stuff. I prefer to have it all in one handy-dandy place, like my RSS reader client.

;)

I do not mind everything linked to RSS, I get more than 1000 a day as it is much is skipped as it might not appeal to me. So I can live with it being everything. I just thought that a single are of new posts would make it manageable for everyone.

Without wishing to rock the boat, and as there is already a photography forum, would it be worth creating a sub forum in their, maybe calling it the Photo Competition Forum and putting all of the threads in there?

It would keep the Meeting place a lot tidier, and I suppose it might get a few more people visiting places other than TMP which is probably viewed far more than any other area in x404

What do you think?

:)

It was decided when X404 started that leaving the compo in the TMP meant it would get more traffic than if it was a sub forum in Photography. Most folk visit the Meeting Place, while relatively few visit Photography.

Not everyone who submits entries to the compo are keen photographers. Moving it to a sub forum might put people off who would otherwise have a crack at it.
