It’s basically a second screen for the iPhone. Most smart watches are pretty much the same thing. There’s no real killer function that makes you say “hey”. I’m surprised that Apple hadn’t figured something like that out. What it does do is help remove the clutter from your phone - I can triage emails on my phone, and can basically tell which is spam and which I really need to read very quickly, but I’d not queue in the pissing rain for that.

My Apple Watch is used mostly for logging bike rides via Strava, and setting timers for tea making. Both these could be easily done on the phone.

I wonder what it is inside? I expect you could make one based around an RPi, with the retro cartridge system just a modified card socket. And, no, I've not read the article yet. Out and about this morning.

Microsoft's latest Windows 10 upgrade tactic: Spreading fear over Windows 7 | TechRadar
http://www.techradar.com/news/software/ ... -7-1312060

All I do now is Google issues around 10 for people - if they're lucky it's a minor issue/can be fixed quickly, but I tell them upfront I won't be spending days trying to fix it for them. I tell them they can take it to a shop and pay, or just re-install at that point. Which is often what will happen at the shop anyway.

The amount of botched updates, locked up hard drives as a result of the system being continually rebooted to fix a botched update (MS's doing, that one), removal of programs, the list goes on. 'How do I switch off updates?', yeah, I'm not spending my time doing that when I told you it would be a problem before you even downloaded 10.

And that's just 10. Windows 7 and 8 users would very much like the harassment to stop but don't like it when you tell them how and that I won't be doing it for them. And there's no guarantee that will even stick with the next update any more. They're in for fun if/when MS forces 10 through a 'recommended update'.

I can see very little benefit to the 'IoT' for the cost and hassle of set-up. Not to mention the privacy implications, personally and commercial.

Quote:
During its press conference, Faraday Future, or FF for short, focused on several key areas of the vehicle. It emphasized the interior, which is white, a color that wouldn't be possible in an internal combustion car, Kim said. There's only one seat, for the driver, and it's angled at 45-degrees to "maximize comfort and increase circulation." Oxygen and water are supplied through a helmet, though that wasn't shown during the presentation.

Nearly put that in the WTF thread...
