This is not a moan, but is it worth considering making the board index seem less cluttered?

I'm thinking:
The Meeting Place
In the News
PC
> Hardware
> Software
Mac
> Hardware
> Software
Open Source
Hifi/AV
Photography
Gaming

We also used to have a fair amount of discussion in the old MacUser forum about hiving off an iTunes/iPod/iPhone section.

We're discussing this at the moment Heather, but thank you for the suggestion, just trying to work out how it would best look.

We had something similar in the beginning but people didn't like the fact you couldn't see if the sub-forums had been posted in.

I'll see if I can add some catagories (like the welcome & forum bits), maybe some space between blocks would work

Is it worth putting a Networking forum in there?

I would say that Networks are applicable to both Macs and PCs and as I'm having a problem with a linksys ple200 powerline av ethernet adapter am not sure where to put the post.

I'll put it in PC Hardware for now, but a Networking forum might be worth considering.

Thanks.

:)

Perhaps just general help? Could work then for cross-platform software etc aswell.

Do you think there would be too many forums if we had a seperate "General Hardware" and "General Software" place? Or maybe "O/S Independent Help" (Needs rewording) would be neater.

Just thinking out loud, and I'm really not used to this being sensible thing, so be nice!

Well I think the help section does need a bit of work. As it stands, the help forums don't even have the word help in their titles.

If a general hardware and general software help forum is added, that would make it 6 forums for help which is quite a few. How about:

PC help
Mac help
*nix help
Cross-platform/Hardware help

Do we really need seperate forums for hardware and software problems???

The set up that we have is good. But I agree with Nick in as much that we need a general help forum, for things like programming help or design help, which isn't suited to TMP, but isn't Mac or PC specific...I think having separate Mac hardware/software and separate PC hardware/software is good, and any UNIX help would go to the Open Source board I'd have thought...

Fair enough, but what about non platform specific hardware issues?

Networking and monitors are two examples that spring to mind, but I'm sure there are many more.

Can go in general, along with programming help and anything else that doesn't fit in other help forums.
