Star Wars : The Force Awakens breaks North America box office record
It really does look like the $4bn Disney paid George Lucas for the Star Wars franchise was a bit of a bargain.

Mark

A bit of a bargain? Well, yes. However, George did piss on his chips with that prequel trilogy. Some are saying the the very first line of dialogue spoken in TFA by Max von Sydow is basically a big snub to Lucas.

As far as the Monopoly situation goes, unless the plot line involves Rey passing a large red arrow and collecting some currency, buying a property and lumping a hotel on it to get some rent, they they are clearly spouting 100% BS. That’s BanthaSh!t.

Honestly don't remember the fights in the prequels, but don't think there was anything wrong with them in TFA. Well, apart from (slight spoiler)... that weird fight between Finn and the stormtrooper. That made no sense in any way lol.

I just thought that certain refined, and more show off moves, were lost as the Jedi attempted to survive, and became scattered. The whole “let’s make the fights look like some hyper samurai event” thing worked well in the prequel trilogy because it was set in a time when things were more open to excessive ornamentation. In the original trilogy, and clearly this one, the use of a light sabre has become more basic - the showy display gone to reflect the times. Also, while sword fights can be choreographed to the nth degree for the screen, the reality would be far more basic - hack, slash, stab, kill.

So turns out, after a long conversation, that Rey's Harry Potter and the First Order are Slytherin.

Yeah, some of that detail wouldn't have gone amiss in the film, cos it was the most random duel... BTW, if SW books are your thing, Mr Rucka mentioned there is a storytelling genius, so...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens: JJ Abrams says no extended cut | Den of Geek

I got the feeling there were quite a few scenes left on the floor watching it, things that a few more frames or words would have set up better. Especially with the baddies.

Saw TFA last night. I enjoyed it... pretty much like I enjoyed A New Hope.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away that hadn't heard of health and safety.
I mean seriously people - hand rails.
And also, did nobody pay any attention to how the Death Star was destroyed?

Never the less, thoroughly enjoyable.
