I seem to recall Carney himself talking of a rise this year, too.

Oh and on a personal note - it can stay low - say 0.5% for the next 5 yrs or so ( when I hope to have cleared the mortgage) and then it can increase - to say 17% (the rate my 1st mortgage was at) as I will by then be saving more

I have an appointment today to renew my 5 year fixed rate. Should be interesting.

I'd very much like it to go higher, so house prices come down and we have a chance at saving a half decent deposit.
