Disney claims December 2017 as new Official release date of Ep. VIII gets pushed back. So this, together with Rogue One getting released this December, it seems that Disney really wants the end-of-year cinema-going boxoffice moolah. Mark

Why a Live-Action STAR WARS TV Show Doesn't Seem Likely — Latino-Review.com http://www.latino-review.com/news/why-a ... eem-likelyIf the suggestion of Disney creating their own streaming service is true, my guess is that's when you'd see it.

I think what the article says at the end is likely the main reason 'the Marvel disconnect between the TV and the films'. While we, the viewers, know that the TV shows and films exist in the same shared world, neither one actually makes that strong a reference to the other, for whatever reason. The closest we have come to this is shared characters, Coulson and Sif being prime examples. I guess they need to remain distinct from each-other enough to justify their place on whichever medium they currently inhabit. Mark

I dunno, something makes me think even the cartoons are in continuity, but I haven't checked and I'm going to bed lol.

For Star Wars? As far as I'm aware, pretty much all expanded universe stuff was jettisoned from the film continuity, so there's the films, and then there's the rest of the stuff (expanded universe). If Disney wanted a live-action Star Wars TV show, they'd need to decide which camp to place it in. Mark

Just checked, apparently Clone Wars the cartoon is canon with the films http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CanonIt's still all a bit confusing though, as apparently cartoon Clone Wars only keeps some of the stuff from the novels etc that were considered canon and ditches the rest. And even some of the novels and so on are questionable as of recently

This complicates things if they want to make a live-action TV show. Not that I think that will actually happen before Ep. IX is released. Mark

So the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) really is as bad as they say. I've had to give up at the 8 minute mark.

Tartakovsky made two (IIRC) long form 'clone wars' period cartoons. The story threads of those shows were then picked up by another party who made the successful 'clone wars' CGI TV series which I think ran for five seasons. TBH I'm not sure why you'd consider one canon and one not - they follow the same characters in the same period and they're very consistent with each other.
