I need a change of scenery. I've been doing iOS development for the past 7 years ish. And I have lost any enjoyment that I initially had in it.

Been thinking of setting up an online shop and wondered if anyone had any experience or tips on how best to go about it?

Been looking at Shopify.

I know Jonlumb has setup shops with a wordpress backend before.

What sort of products will be on there?
Do you have an existing payments gateway?

No. Don't have anything yet. In terms of payments, Shopify pretty much does everything including giving me a hosted website and blog to go alongside the shop.

I'm setting up with a friend as we both had the same idea for selling board games and table top games. There is nothing in our local area for it and a lot of people interested.

We actually want to set up a bricks and mortar shop but are doing the online thing as a tester first :-)

Watched a student/apprentice here playing with Shopify last week, and it looked trivial to set up for a man of your skills.
Of course, what happens after that is another question.

If you want a B&M afterwards check that the systems have some sort of ERP access or stock control feature so you don't need to have 2 systems running
