Unfortunately the sheer brutality makes it noteworthy, but also The Guardian is one of the few papers if not the last to consistently highlight what a backward little sh1tbox India really is. And it really does need highlighting.

Sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "la la la" doesn't change the fact that something [LIFTED] awful happened to a young girl.

Why would I make a point of posting this? Really?

I think everybody should be made aware of this kind of [LIFTED] - given that it's happening all the time over there - and hope that a critical mass is reached and sufficient pressure is put on India to respond to this seriously. Not only this particular crime, but the underlying reasons as to why so many in their culture think it's ok to rape and beat children.

Couldn't agree more. This is in the news, and burying our heads in the sand isn't going to make it go away. The world needs to pile so much pressure on the Indian government that they will be left with no choice but to take decisive action and ignoring the horrors which are taking place is not going to achieve anything.

I'm not sticking my fingers in my ears. I see the news. I read the news. I know what's going on in the big bad world so I am fully aware.

Not a Guardian fan so I didn't read this particular story in this publication. Nothing personal.

people often hide in their mental bubbles when faced with real truths such as this, were you forced into the news section and specifically this thread at gunpoint? ;) could of just ignored the thread if you dont like seeing world events, positive and negative everything needs to be shown
