A caretaker PM, an opposition that isn‘t, hate crime attacks, the UK’s credit rating dropping, and the markets jittering.

You really have to wonder what will happen if/when the Article 50 button is pressed for real.

I suspect by then (looking like mid September at the earliest) things will actually be a bit more calm - people will have had time to become accustomed to the reality. At least in terms of the markets. Racist morons are still going to be racist morons, sadly.

The next thing to worry about is Chillcot - I suspect very few of the MPs that were in place at the time of the Iraq war are going to come out of it very well.

If only there was something they could do to distract people... oh, wait.

This is awesome

Yup - but every time I scrolled that page, that bloody video at the top started playing again.

Just to get this straight in my head ...
After Boris bailed on cleaning up the fallout from the campaign he lead, we have five contenders for the unenviable task of becoming PM : Teresa May, Michael Gove, Stephen Crabb, Liam Fox and Andrea Leadsom.
May and Crabb both backed the 'remain' campaign, but have since said that they would follow the referendum result and carry out the exit from the EU, the other three all backed the leave campaign.
So there's nobody in the running for PM that even wants to not have the UK leave the EU.

Is all that accurate?
Like I say, I just want to get all this straight in my head.

Mark

Sounds about right.
I'm surprised may isn't going for the 'Renegotiate and revote' line.

yeah, well, I wouldn't assume what they say before the leadership election is what they'll actually do after the leadership election. I mean, after the week we've had...

With such a small margin in the result, it’s a political balancing act now. How do you meet the needs of all the people in the UK on this? You have to ensure any solution fits most people.

And remember that us foreigners are allowed to vote at GE ;). Anyone that panders to the leavers will be in trouble in high migrant constituencies
