Well, it looks like part one of the fix to oust Corbyn is in - secret ballots at the NEC meeting.

It IS the fix. if he's not on the ballot paper then the stitch up is effectively done, we'll get a choice between 'utterly bland and compliant' and 'slightly bland, probably compliant' at best. The only thing that can then be done is legal challenge, which will almost certainly happen. And which will make things even more divisive and vitriolic. The secret ballot is the first fracture in what will become a labour party split.

The decision is in...

Quote:
The NEC has agreed that as the incumbent leader Jeremy Corbyn will go forward onto the ballot without requiring nominations from the Parliamentary Labour Party and the European Parliamentary Labour Party.

All other leadership candidates will require nominations from 20% of the PLP and EPLP.

They'd better hope they can beat him, or by $deity there's going to be hell to pay for them afterwards. And, TBH, some of the crap they've been pulling will have put party members off.

The live blog on the NEC meeting seems to have utterly broken The Grauniad's comment system :D

Well, it's been as fractious as the Labour Party so it's hardly surprising it's thrown a wobbler.

Tweet of the night was along the lines of 'Theresa May to announce snap election date. It is expected to be before the Labour NEC meeting finishes'.

Are we sure Corbyn isn't really Obi-Wan Kenobi? An old man who came out of nowhere, wears a lot of brown and cream, gets more powerful after an apparent death...
