The Sun's Kelvin MacKenzie is trying to smear Muslims, says C4 News presenter | Media | The Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/ ... tima-manji

Kelvin might have to go soon. Recent predictions? A remain vote and Leadsom as PM after that failed. And that's ignoring his usual nonsense...

Restaurants that play sodding Happy Birthday over the sound system at a far higher volume than the normal background music can get in the sea.

I have no objection to people going out for a meal to celebrate a birthday, even sing HB at the table at an appropriate juncture. Do it badly and out off tune in the best traditions of the British Brithday party if you must.

But for fudge sake don't inflict a jazzed up version on everyone else at 100db at 5 sodding minute intervals and make the poor staff have to pretend they like what's happening and join in either.

Went out for a meal last night to an Indian buffet type place. The food was very good, as was the company. However I won't be going back there any time soon because of the mandatory happy birthday music that was blared out at regular intervals through the evening.

My ability to forget the PS4 is in rest mode and switch it off at the plug causing a database reset remains strong.

I did this one, but now i just power down, unless there is a reason to leave it in rest mode, such as charging the gamepad.

If you have PS+ it backs up your saved games to 'the cloud' at about 4AM every morning if it's in rest mode.

So, at least years rent renewal I agreed to redecorate the bathroom in exchange for the rent not going up.
Given my past performance in negotiating the rent I think I've managed to shoot myself in the foot as it looks like this is going to cost more than I've probably saved to actually do.

The bathroom has a mould issue. It's difficult to entirely decide whether it's a genuine damp problem or just condensation - it really only happens in winter when it's cold outside which does kind of suggest it's a condensation problem. The problem is however largely down to the construction of the bathroom. It's an old terrace so the bathroom is stuck on the back and was probably originally a separate outside toilet. It appears to be single layer brick wall and there is no insulation so it's not that surprising that the outside walls get pretty damn cold when the weather outside is cold. On the other hand, the majority of the mould appears low down on the walls and the worst bit is where the main sewer drain is so it could be coming up as well.

Anywho, the bathroom had been 'decorated' by the previous tenants - wallpaper, an excellent choice in a bathroom. On removing this there are naturally several layers of previous paint (topmost layer a nice deep dark terracotta colour) and possibly some more, different, wall paper (but only in random patches - like they lost the will to live trying to remove it last time round). Plenty of cracks and it also looks like either the painting has been done directly onto the bricks or the plaster is so think you can see the brickwork pattern through it.

Much work ahead :x

I had that in my place. Previous owner had decorated the bathroom with vinyl wallpaper and shagpile carpet (!) First thing I did was gut it completely and tile the whole thing...

Despite having grown up in a house that had a carpeted bathroom I really can't see why anyone would do it.
I'm not touching the floor. It's vinyl tiles... over other vinyl flooring. And a fair few of the tile are loose so you get an interesting sticky/crunchy noise when you walk on some of them.
