Urgh was about to order the laptop I wanted ( was just going to go for the acer) and it's no longer for sale on play.com

I think it was a missprice as a lower spec one has appeared for a higher price now

Very annoyed. I installed Small Business Server 2003 last night, and got a warning that my PC has more than 2 processors.

Wiped it and put Windows 7 back on, as I couldn't be bothered arguing...

Visited the MS Website this morning and apparently it, (the false warning message) is a known issue, which I can get around by clicking the acknowledge button.

Will try again tonight. Maybe.

Also... Very very bored today.

Anyone else use http://www.engadget.com? Finding it's crashing Firefox? :?

No, but several websites have crashed FF recently for me. They've all had some kind of active content, but often they load fine when I restart.

I have no way to tell if it's FF 3.0.11 or one of the plugins. I use ABP and few others.

Yip, that's all my experience too :(

That's the one, IMHO. Stick in some RAM later, and you really don't need blu-ray.

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/6735991/A ... dpr=192628 - £480 so £440 after 5% off with Varsity card and £15 play.com voucher I will have
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/6736008/A ... oduct.html £540 or £500 after 5% off with varsity card and £15 play.com voucher

Pros for the more expensive one:
Faster CPU
Faster GPU
Bluetooth

Cons for the more expensive one:
No Bluray - I have hd-dvd and probably wouldn't watch blu ray on the go
3GB instead of 4GB RAM
£60 (or more depending if the discount works or not) more

a 2gb stick of ram isn't expensive (£20 or less) and I can upgrade later but the Blu Ray drive I could flog when I get it as they are over £100 new (according to scan) and then just put a regular dvd-rw drive in, say I get £50 for it it brings it to £400 which is a lot closer to what I was looking to pay for the slightly lower spec one...and neither is shabby tbh. Both qualify for the Win7 upgrade :)

Dell wanted £700-900 for the same spec, wouldnt let me swap the blu ray upgrade for the 1080p screen upgrade :(

I think the faster CPU/GPU and Bluetooth would swing it.
I don't think no bluray's a deal breaker - as you say, you don't use it anyway.
3GB instead of 4GB isn't a massive issue is it?

Well Bluetooth would be awesome for connection sharing with my mobile phone for tethering
Bluray would probably sell if I got that one to save even more off the cost of the laptop
it's not, but it's £60 more which I could save in all honesty

On a side note, my Varsity card just got delivered at work so 5% off the laptop should work :D
takes the £540 to £513 so £498 with the voucher when I get it
The other one is looking to be £430 so £70 difference in fact

I'll wait till next week when I get paid, need to sort out getting my play.com voucher first and using my play.com card so I can get as much off as possible with an extra few £'s in more vouchers

I wouldn't buy a laptop with no bluetooth. I know you could put a cheap USB stick on, but it's not the same.

I like to tether, synch, text, update music etc. to the phone with a click rather than tapping it in or using cables.

Plus various wireless devices like mice and headsets.

I don't like wires. Just wish BT was faster...
