Bluestone 42 was the last BBC Sitcom I get into. And that's a fair few years ago already.

Well, their recent reboot attempts were not as good as the originals, though I think Porridge did better than Are You Being Served?

True, but that's just 'blandly average' rather than 'ruddy awful'. The remakes were a weird idea - they apparently couldn't decide whether to actually 'reboot' them or to just clone them with new actors, so you ended up with this 'half and half' thing that didn't really work.

It only works if your host is old skool doesn't give a fcuk. And not somebody faking that either.

It's amazing it made it that far the show got so ropey.

'Black Lightning' May Strike TV Thanks To Greg Berlanti, Mara Brock Akil & Salim Akil

It's incredibly noticeable in his other shows when Berlanti gets too busy.

The actual host has since been confirmed as Stephen Merchant.

Merchant you say? Hmm, yeah, wouldn't have been my first choice.
Mind you, I'm at a loss to suggest anyone who could replace O'Brian.

Fleabag is well worth a look. I think it’s being shown late on BBC 2 at the moment, but it’s been on BBC3’s iPlayer for a while.

Watched another of the “reboots” of sitcoms on Friday. Goodnight Sweetheart didn’t grab me, but the original series didn’t either, so it was meaningless in my mind. Young Hyacinth is probably the best of the batch so far. Kerry Howard (who played Hyacinth as a young woman) managed to maintain Patricia Routlege’s (who played Hyacinth Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances) delivery well. While I didn’t really follow Keeping Up Appearances, I did think this was worth watching. I’d like to see this one and Porridge developed further.

Kerry Howard played Laura in Him and Her (another one to seek out - the wedding series really gives her full reign to be as ghastly as possible).

Kerry Howard is Russell Howards sister. And yes, Him and Her is excellent and a definite +1 for the final 'Wedding' series as well.

My brother likes Fleabag but I couldn't get into the first episode although I don't think I saw it from the start which may not have helped.

Not gonna say anything about it, and don't Google it, just iPlayer Cleverman and let me know what you think. I loved it.

I also enjoyed Newzoids whenever that was on. Very funny and a bit like a modern day Spitting Image.

I saw that on the list of things yesterday and wondered what it was.
