You can but the points are rubbish. 2k per day for a 4870 or 7k per day for a GTX260

CUDA is more effective & the nvidia client is a lot newer so points are weighted towards it to get people to fold.

Bah, screw that. I'd rather save the monies and buy ATI, especially when you consider the cards are just as good, if not better in some cases at gaming. My 'leccy bill will be all the better for it too.

I prefer World Community Grid anyway, I'll leave the Folding to the PS3.

4890's are pretty much the same price as the 275's. The 275 seems to have the edge on the 4890 performance wise, plus it has the advantages of folding and physx (even if its not utilized that much.)

As for choosing ATI because of power usage the 275 draws less power than the 4890 plus it runs cooler and quieter.

Hm, I'm going in search of benchmarks. Given that the 4870 gave the 285 a run for its money, I'm checking the above before accepting it.

As for the 4870 giving the 285 a run for its money, please provide benches for that one.

4870 gave the 260 216 a run for its money and was 60/40 split better than it.

Kindof. :)

The ATI architecture makes folding less efficient, from what I remember.

Anyway, I have a 9600 Pro, X1650 Pro, 9600GSO + 4870x2. Didn't have to pay for the x2 though, it has been loaned to me by the nice people at AMD. :)
