Well I have had the iPhone long enough now to have "issues" The first was a loss of sound. I was playing a game and noticed that the sound had gone. I turned up the volume to no effect. Other Applications too had lost their sound. Curiously though the iPod side of the device still worked. I tried resetting the phone… no effect I tried reinstalling the software for the phone… no effect I tried deleting my applications and reinstalling them… no effect. I desperation I rang Apple. This is how it went… I gave my tale of woe "Don't worry Sir if it is a hardware fault we will replace the phone however could I just check a couple of things first?" "Ok" "Just check for me the mute button" "Mute button?" "Yes the mute button on the side, is it showing orange?" "Er, there is a button on the side, and it is showing orange" "Could you just click that button for me so that it orange is not showing" "Yeah done that" "Just check out the game that was not giving sound" "O.k. Oh, it seems to be working now" "Good news, anything else we can help you with" "No, thanks for all your help". CC

I've known people spend days trying to get the wireless working on a laptop, only to discover it's switched off...

My personal weakness is becoming highly frustrated trying to login to something, wondering why my password doesn't work... Usually, it means I've spelled my name wrong

That switch confused me for a while. There it was, but it was not obvious how it moves. I kind of found out by accident.

One of my mates had the iphone and for about six months, he didn't know how to silence it when the phone rings. He said the only way was to answer the phone! I did a quick google and found there was a mute button on the side of the phone. He was quite surprised, we tested it out and it worked.
Do these iphone users not read the manual or something? It's one of the first things I do whilst the phone battery is being fulled charged prior to first start up.

There are a few strange things with the iPhone though.
For example, when the phone is locked and an incoming call is received, the only option is "Slide to answer". What about if I want to reject the call? I only recently found out you press the "Sleep" button once to silence the ringing, and press it twice to reject the call and send it to voicemail.
On most phones, you just press the "Red phone" button, but Apple do like to be different.
Peter.

I love my iPod Touch and am seriously looking at getting an iPhone now.
The only thing that is worrying me are the reports on battery life! A friend of mine has installed about half a dozen for his company and all the users are reporting a battery life of less than 1 days, and if the talk for 30 minutes or so, they'll be lucky to get 3 hours out of the 'phone, before the have to hit the recharger!
I find this hard to believe...
MY htc Touch Pro, Windows Mobile 'phone, lasts for around 4 days with 20 minutes of calls a day, or listening to couple of podcasts.
My iPod Touch came to England with me and I listened to around 12 hours of podcasts and watched a couple of video podcasts and the battery level had dropped by about a third, over 3 days - and I had Wi-Fi on for a short while, but didn't use it.
I therefore find it very surprising, and suspect, that the iPhone should be so bad, considering it has a bigger battery than either of the above...
Given my currnet habits, I need the 'phone to last at least 2 days, with limited talking - Internet access is pretty irrelevant, my iPod and the Touch Pro both have Wi-Fi and a web browser and I use them for may 5 minutes a month, if I need Internet access, I generally have a computer nearby...
PG2114: My Touch Pro has a green button for accept and a red to reject displayed on the touch screen. The problem is, getting the 'phone out of my pocket usually "presses" the red button and very occassionally presses the green button as I am walking, before it has rung!
I think the slide to answer is good and having to press something totally different to reject is a great idea!

Good tip, maybe I should read the manual.
