As I saw on twitter earlier, he won't be able to call it 'the best wall' unless it's visible from space . I would just love him to get it made and for the Chinese premier to visit, look it up and down very slowly and then say 'Meh, seen better'.

In todays news, he's calling for torture to be allowed in interrogations. I wonder what other guff will be snuck out under the storm over that one.

Somebody shoud tell Trump that 1984 and Newspeak is a distopian look at the future and not a dummies' guide to politics!

One of my old colleagues in US has an adult disabled son and she's now waiting to hear how Trump will change the care he receives. From what I gather he's doing really well at the moment but that could all easily change. It's really sad

Good! Did you hear about the 100s of hackers that were brought in before the inauguration to get all the data from the government sites before they were removed?

I do vaguely remember reading a story that a few groups in the EU were 'scraping' data off US government agency websites that were thought to be under threat of being deleted once Trump came into office. Wouldn't surprise me if there were also a lot of people copying raw data onto USB drives etc. within government-financed research institutes as well. Some of it is petabyte sized lumps of stuff though, you have to design custom ultra-fast networks to shift it around. There's little chance databases of that size can be preserved without it being obvious that it was happening and next to no chance of shipping it outside the borders of the US. To use a well worn phrase though, 'Information wants to be free'. Even if they delete the data, the science will still be there in published papers and the like. Especially in the internet age its pretty hard to shut people up entirely, and if Trump starts jailing scientists en masse that really would put him in the top rank of authoritarian nut jobs. The only two people in history who have done that are Stalin and Pol Pot. well, and the Catholic church, but that was years ago

His executive order has not been lifted. this court judgement only applies to people who have already been issued a visa and then travelled on it. the US Embassies wont be issuing any more visas to anybody on the list so they wont be able to travel to the USA. also note that 'at this time' it is only a temporary ban ...
