The animal rights group PETA has written to Games Workshop asking for Warhammer to not dress its miniatures in "fur".

Certain characters wear painted-on animal pelts.

Even though it's only plastic, PETA still wants this to change.

"While we appreciate that they are fictional," the group says, "draping them in what looks like a replica of a dead animal sends the message that wearing fur is acceptable."

It’s plastic. also, if you wanted to, you could modify the figures, or just paint them so that don’t look like fur.

You patently don't.

If that's all they've got to complain about, the world's animals are in a pretty good state.

These are fictional characters that are supposed to represent barbaric tribes, which probably haven't invented weaving and cloth.

Next, they'll be asking that all the history books and exhibits in museums be changed, so that the cavemen never wore fur!

Warhammer has lots of different worlds / universes. Some space aged, some magic and mystical, middle ages or older.

Will have to have a look but they have been doing Fantasy Warhammer film, (last year) and the computer game - seems odd they would not also do the miniatures & Rules for the ££'s

Jesus, if you cannot even get basic checkable facts like that right you really are inept.

the new rules 'age of sigmr' are basically 40K rules. i have the old rules as well as the new rules for my chaos models.
the crew who play warhammer use the old rules which means we can no longer use the game workshop premises for the games as they only allow the new rules.

luckily i have a very large gaming table set up so the crew now use this for any games of warhammer. mind you we also play fire storm armada, which is cheaper, so its not like we always play warhammer. and no i will not be cutting the 'plastic' fur off of my models ...

But 40k (7th edition 2nd update I think) took fantasy rules in to the 40k world (& ruined it with all the magic & psychic phases). So you could argue that the AoS campaign is actually fantasy even though it plays like 40k.
