Amazon Logistics.

I ordered a thing, for delivery at work. Work has a loading/delivery bay that is manned 24/7.

A delivery attempt was made on Friday, which wasn't successful as apparently there was nobody available to accept the parcel in this 24/7 manned delivery bay. hrmph. Failure Message said "we'll try again on the next available day".

Turns out that's today. Fair enough I suppose, no reason to try at weekends.

The parcel is listed as out for delivery today. It is now 17:45, roughly. The parcel is still 'out for delivery'. I suspect the chances of it actually being delivered today are pretty much zero.

My only valid conclusion is whoever has this parcel is a massive bell end.

I've had that with Amazon Logistics too. Ordered a parcel to be delivered to work for next day delivery. We're open 0830-1830. They apparently turned up at 1445 and said no one was there. No card left. I was so incensed, I complained (it takes a lot for me to do that). Got the order reinstated for urgent next day delivery but one of the items was out of stock so they just refunded me the difference.

So apparently they tried to deliver it at 18:45 (yeah, like I'm sure their driver was still on the road then) and again, despite the building being staffed 24/7, nobody was there to accept the parcel. Imagine that eh, what are the chances?

Apparently they're going to try again tomorrow. Thankfully I don't immediately need the item in question, so I'm inclined to let it happen just for lolz. If they pull the same trick tomorrow though it's definitely a refund job.

I had two parcels delivered by Amazon Logistics last week. Fortunately I was on holiday. I was in all day on both occasions but the parcels weren't delivered until after 6. The first one the guy handed over my parcel and asked if I could take one for my neighbour. I didn't have a problem with that until I happened to pop out for something about 5 minutes later and noticed my neighbour was sitting in his living room with his laptop. Now, it's remotely possible he had been out but it's a terraced house and I can hear his front door open and close so I had to conclude the Amazon bloke couldn't be arsed (or perhaps was so stretched he didn't have the time) to do the adjacent deliveries.

The next day I had to go out in the evening so it showed up naturally about 10 minutes after I left the house.

Under normal circumstances a delivery between 6 and 7 in the evening would actually be quite good ss there's a reasonable chance I'd be back from work. Thing is, when I'm at work they seem to know and try to deliver at about 3 in the afternoon. :x

Amazon let me down today. I ordered two items on Saturday afternoon and received the delivery email stating the 9th for delivery. No parcels, no calling card.

Was going to put this in best/worse things bought thread but it'll sit here better.

Our TV has HDMI and antenna cables coming out the side of the TV before flexing round behind the TV. I thought it'd be a good idea to buy some 90* adaptors to make a neater appearance before buying some cable wrap or similar to tie it all together neatly.

Got the antenna connector and works fine.

HDMI connector - I didn't realise you could buy them as 90* or 270* versions. I bought the 90* version but this would mean the connector goes towards the front of the TV, and I needed the 270* version. Only a couple of quid spent but still a pain.

I'd have bought them too!

Nr. 1 daughter put a cup of coffee in her school bag... Along with her MacBook Pro and iPad... Cup wasn't leak proof, scratch one MacBook Pro and a soggy, but still working iPad... :(

And after years of telling her to keep backups of her work, guess who doesn't have a backup of her disertation for her degree? :(

Don't suppose she's emailed herself a copy at some stage?

Nope.

Ordered her a new MacBook Pro 13" last night, I dismantled her 2008 MBP 13 yesterday and some of the contacts have sugar or corrosion on them and burning, probably where she tried to turn it on. :(

The HDD spins, but I couldn't pull the data off. It is currently being put through its paces with SpinRite. Hopefully that will get it working long enough to extract the data.

I had so many backups of mine I struggled to keep up with which were the latest revision and which weren't.

I emailed the latest copy to myself at least once a day, with the date of the revision in the filename.

Frankly it would make a lot of sense when working on a large document like a dissertation to store it using Git or similar.

It's a win for me but feels like a fail - 6 of our telecom engineers (50%) were made redundant yesterday. They have a weeks consultation so some may be back. I feel really bad as I'm safe apparently.
