Oh. My. God. That was awesome. Freddie's got five wickets at Lord's. What an ovation. I'm getting all emotional.

Would you believe I was nabbed to sit in a meeting at 10:55 and only got back to my desk to start up TMS about 1PM? Oh the humanity! Oh, and I think a is called for. Jon

Pietersen out of the rest of the series after an operation on his achilles. Given he's been playing like a drain so far because of the injury, I honestly can't say how much of an affect this will have.

Probably not as much as Flintoff if he was out for the series. I bet Ian Bell is upset by this news

I can just see Bell jumping for joy, then discovering that Rob Key is going to replace Pieterson!
Actually, Bell has been playing very well at County level of late, so he's probably got a shoe in.

Can anyone else think of any outstanding county players that never managed to make it at test level?

That was the two I was thinking of. Of course, there's also John Crawley as well. To use an Indian commentator's favourite phrase, Bell flatters to deceive too often for me.

After a rain-affected first day of the Third Test at Edgbaston, England found their mojo and got two wickets with the first two balls of the second day.
Go Onions!
