I've already been a few times. Off the top of my head: The Rock - great views of Empire State and Central Park Macy's (take your passport shopping as you get a discount) Ground Zero Statten Island Ferry (which is free for good views of the Statue of Liberty) Also sign up for the bus tours as they include a boat ride around Manhattan If you want a chat before you go let me know

If you like a museum the MET in central park is good Walk Brooklyn Bridge at Night - its safe Have a drink in the rooftop bar of the hotel I stayed at (50 Bowery - near China town), spectacular view up Manhattan ) - Very pricy drinks though If you like food - Katz Deli is worth it

On one of my visits to New York I went to a bar at the Hilton on 13th floor over looking the Statue of Liberty. Things change so quickly in New York I don't think it's around any more however I have found this link Bars near the Statue of LibertyIf you can arrange drinks before sunset it's great to see all the lights come on

Have you found a Broadway shows and booked?
I know some have to be booked several months in advance. If there is something you really want to see, it is probably worth reserving it now, to avoid disapointment.

My advice still stands - look on tripadvisor forums for their travel guides, which I found useful, and the NYC section of the forum which had lots of useful hints and tips. Plan well - go by proximity so it's easier and make adequate time for everything. Book tickets in advance for things you really want to do. Get some comfortable walking shoes.
