The Mac market has changed, and so has the audience. It’s not about System 7 and that copy of Quark XPress you have anymore.

Fair enough. That makes the mag no longer relevant to me, so I don't buy it anymore. I'm sure there are plenty of people to take my place.

I have a subscription with MacUser...But it's not what I really want...This months issue had an article on free office suites, but then goes on in another article and says about editing images in Photoshop...Would be nice if they used free apps to do the stuff they show you, then everyone could join in...
I'll be cancelling soon, it's just not what I'm after...

Bought my first one today...did laugh at the "how to do stuff with this £2.5k creative suite you've bought and really should know how to use" attitude in some of the mac magazines.

A couple of issues of 'iCreate' back they had around 10 pages of free and cheap applications. The areas covered ranged from design to games, with geeky stuff and silly stuff alike. If it wasn't £6 an issue, I'd subscribe to that.

Charles Shaar Murray and Tony Tyler - two great columnists from the Good Old Days.
Stopped reading the magazine years ago.

They were a fantastic duo. Shutdown was the first thing I turned to when my copy of MacUser arrived and they regularly had me doubled up with laughter. May Tony rest in peace.

I still read PC Pro, but I've been considering cancelling the subscription for ages. I still think it's a good magazine, but I just don't get around to reading it.

However, articles by the likes of Jon Honeyball, the fact I can read it on the train and being too lazy to cancel just tip the balance. I just wish I didn't keep forgetting to take it with me :?

Leave it in the bathroom, you're guaranteed to read it :)

You might even remember to lift it after brushing your teeth of a morning ;)

Jon Honeyball's column is the sole reason I miss PC Pro. Although sometimes Tim Danton's piece was amusing.

I was actually surprised at them putting them on the site for that very reason....

Indeed. For many people, the only advantage of buying the magazine is that dropping Tim Danton down the loo is less expensive if it's the mag rather than your laptop

His articles are usually good, and I like the grey hairy bloke too. In general, all the articles are worth reading, I trust their reviews and the news may be months out of date by the time it lands on the door mat but I'd probably miss a lot if I didn't get it.

In some ways, buying it almost seems like an act of charity though. I just want to support them, rather than read it all for free on the web. The forum thing really has nothing to do with the magazine as far as I'm concerned.

Unfortunately for me it was for economy reasons that I cancelled my sub. Although thinking about it I may ditch LXF in favour of PC Pro.
