Or German or Scandinavian or Dutch... No matter how far you dig, you find the English are mongrels, made up of all the invading peoples from Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't a recent DNA study find that actually, there wasn't much evidence of inter-breeding between the native and invading peoples of the British Isles?

That's odd. I assumed I would get a different set of questions if I tried again but no. 21/24 this time.

Which of the two sovereign countries are you talking about there, Bratty? Not that it matters, the whole island's infested with scumbags that make everybody else look bad

Yep. You can actually trace back you lineage through your DNA on your mother's side (for everyone) and your father's side (if you're male). They've gone back a very long way and I think showed that there isn't much mingling of genetic lines in the UK - there are people who have common ancestors with the people of Northern France, the people of Scandanavia and the 'native' inhabitants (paired to the DNA found in ancient burial grounds) but there's very little evidence of those groups intermixing in ancient times, although there's more once you get past say the 15th century by which time the population was pretty much stable anyway. Essentially you, me and everyone else has largely the same DNA as whichever group your bloodline started off in, be it 'local' or 'invader'. As a population as a whole we are a pretty pick & mix bunch but each individual is largely traceable back to one distinct group. There's a fair bit about this in terms of Europe in general in the book that went with the BBC series 'The Incredible Human Journey'; which if you're at all into archeology or anthropology is actually quite a good read. The test is to see if you realy want to put the effort in, buy the official book, understand it and revise, the actual information and knowledge contained within the test is irrelevant. (i failed :p )
