Anyone have any idea where I could get a replacement power supply for a Draytek Vigor 2820 router?
I think mine is fired after a lighnng strike took out the surge protector it was connected to. I seriously hope it's just the power supply. I don't particularly want to have to replace the router as it wasn't exactly the cheapest on the market.

Power Supply ordered. I bloody hate it when the shipping costs nearly as much as the sodding item (£10 for shipping a £12 power supply)

Hope this doesn't piss you off to find you forgot to select the free carriage option at checkout.

Free on orders over £150. Trust me, I tried to select the free delivery option and it was having none of it.

As can see advertise delivery as free if you order only one PSU. So they are breaking the law to do otherwise on checkout.

Well i tried the free carriage option at the checout and it just hung every time. Tried it several times. Went through is seconds when I selected standard carriage.
Anyway, I spoke tot hem on the phone today and they said I shouldn't have paid carriage so it will be refunded.

A good result then.

wonder how many other customers have paid delivery charges and not been refunded. A good ploy by suppliers to get extra money (make links to free carriage not work) but still charge even though they know they shouldn't. Only people who complain get their money back.

I for one will not be using their site to order anything.

they missed out Great Britain, so people in Great Britain should be offended not those who live in Northern Irleland.

They should have just said the UK to avoid confusion...

Well, the new power supply let me power up the router but it appears to be borked. Can get it to communicate at all.
The Broadband Buyer website bounced me to Draytek to get a replacement as I've had it more than 30 days. This however goes against the Sale of Goods Act and even what it says on their own sodding website. Methinks a call to trading standards may be in the offing.

Hopefully Draytek will respond favourably as it will probably be quicker for them to replace it directly than it will be to bugger about with Broadband Buyer.

Not sure damage by lightning is covered by guarantees. So they are doing you a favour if replace free of charge.

A lot of surge protectors do have warranties on equipment connected to them as protection for surges such as lightning is what they are suppose to be designed for.
So if no luck with router people could try the power surge unit suppliers for compensation for damage caused that they were supposed to prevent.

I know lightning strikes aren't normally covered by waranties but I'm not 100% convinced it was actually a lightning strike.
Everything else int he house is fine, even stuff that wasn't on surge protectors. Whatever it was also didn't reset the clock on the microwave (which is quite sensitive to power disruptions).

The only surge protector that was out was the one with the router attached to it and everything else on that one is fine as well.
I wasn't in when it happened so I don't know for definite that it was lightning.
