The IARC's WHO agency for research on cancer therefore "raised the classification of the use of UV-emitting tanning devices to Group 1, 'carcinogenic to humans'," they said.

Some salons advertise health "benefits" to using sunbeds but offer customers no guidance on health risks, she added. "Hopefully categorising sunbeds as a known carcinogen will prompt the government to introduce compulsory health warnings on tanning beds."

There were a lot of orange people on the telly clacking on about this this morning. We need health warnings, but also the unmanned coin-op places need to be shut down.

Has anyone done any research to find out if sunbeds are more dangerous or safer than actually sunbathing. Of course there's a risk, that's been known for years, but the comparison should be done, surely?

I don't know why anyone would use a sunbed... We had a 30 year old ex-model at work, who used a sunbed several times a week, she looks older than me! (And I'm 41)

 Thanks Nick. :D

But, seriously, the people who use the sunbeds regularly, as well as being orange, are usually shrivelled up like a prune and look much older than they really are. I mean, why do they do it?

because they want to look chav-tatsic.
That and the false belief that someone with a tan is healthy and someone who hasnt got one is unhealthly. A complete turnaround from the start of the 20th century when Edwardian ladies were supposes to be as white as possible, To show they were rich enough not to have to work.

Someone on TV many years ago said that a tan is indicative of skin damage. To me, it doesn’t look healthy.

Not the first time this week they have been commented on. The Random Avatars seem to be on the way to self-awareness.

All this time we've been worrying about rogue military hardware... I hope you're proud of yourself! ;)
