Not a chance. She's simply in the annoys me category. I dont like her voice, her lop sided mouth when she speaks, the fact she calls her mother 'mummy', her shortened name (VBH) etc etc. She's not even slightly good looking IMO.

edit** I'd rather 'do' Tiff. Or the fat hairy one for that matter ;)

I just watched back the jump with the car and bike and hercules.

It was definitely done in the same shot. You can see the Hercules coming in to land in the distance before they hit the ramp.

There were a couple of different angle shots with no Hercules in and then a shot showing them landing from the other side of the jump that shows the Hercules flying off again.

An amazing shot though. All of the camera work through that rally bit was amazing.

Is it just me or was that the worst series of TG since it got revamped?

There was a background level of dullness that I just didn't detect in previous series', never mind the fact somebody seems to have taken a chainsaw to the budget

And what was with that lame ending? Couldn't have been filmed just to fill time, could it?

I don't thin it was the worst - I thought the start was particularly strong this year - but it was however perhaps one of the least consistent. In fact, I'd say the shows themselves internally seemed more fragmented, which gave the whole thing a very disjointed feel.

Well that's not their fault. You have to consider how well they've done with the budget they have. I think they've done OK considering. I think some of the very cheapest bits - like the news segments for example - have been pretty good this season. However I do think it's time to retire Star In A Reasonably Priced Car, given they seem to rather be struggling for candidates this season. And leaving the cool wall until so late in the final episode was a bit of a mistake.

Don't think so. I have a feeling they've just run out of things to say about Aston Martins. Yes they're all very nice, very very nice in fact, but they all look basically the same and they all act basically the same. Given they've already been through about 5 different variants of the same design, what can they say that would be new or insightful? I can't really think of anything. Better with such a pretty car to just show it, especially with such an epic landscape as a backdrop. What it was was car porn of the simplest sort - take a stunning car and film it in a stunning location, job done.
I think Clarkson may have been overstating the case about it being somehow the end of an era though - we've got that new Ferrari to come and Lambo are soon to be showing the followup to the Murchielago for example. That was patently just a link to allow them to use Brian Eno's 'The End' as the soundtrack.

Back in four months then.

Jon

I kind of had that sinking feeling from the very beginning - something was just off :?

I'm not saying it's their fault, I'm just saying it's taken out a lot of the fun for the viewer.

I thought this was one of the strongest years for Star... Stephen Fry, Brian Johnston, Jay Leno, Sienna Miller :D

I dunno, I started to think they were gonna take the p1ss out of their car ad capabilities with it, especially since it kept using the sweeping across the dashboard/side window, weather changing shot :?

I was actually wondering if he thought it was the end of the show altogether the way he was talking, it seemed that out of place to me. I knew it was coming back (they've been filming in the new sewers here in Belfast for the next series), but I did wonder if he knew that when he filmed it...

EDIT - For some reason it refuses to accept my quote editing, sorry :x

I have to say that I still find TG very funny a lot of the time. I do think that the puerile nature of a lot of things that they get up to is starting to wear a bit thin, but still very funny a lot of the time.

Last nights car ad bit was very, very funny. I thought that their ad when the guy topped himself was simply hilarious- Yes, we can deal with the sick and sad aspect of this another time, but I was wetting myself laughing. Yes, it was very, very funny, but it was also very, very silly and it's just embarrassing watching people like those ad' blokes who clearly have absolutely no sense of humour where their work and TG is concerned.

The business of Jeremy, Richard and the cool wall. It was very silly, but the cool wall arguments and Richard and Jezza trying to outdo each other are as much a part of TG as fast cars and respect to Richard, he really got the upper hand there- for a while at least.

Star in a reasonably priced car. This is often the point where I leave the room to get a drink or something, but I like Jay Leno and I saw no problem with him as a guest last night and his F1/undercover cop story was great. This is as good an excuse as any to have a celebrity on the show, but some of them have been anything but petrol-heads and you have to wonder why they have been chosen. I don't have to wonder why Kristen Scott-Thomas was chosen

The Aston-Martin last night. Yes, it might have been a bit of filler, but WOW! I know I want one, but I'll have to settle for that landscape. I'm guessing that it was Scotland, but I'm not very familiar with the wilds of the north enough to recognise it on TV.

EDIT- PM, me! PM, me!!!!
