Yes I read it! So you don't know anything more than me? I just don't want an upgrade version and the only reason the deal made sense was if you got full for "upgrade" price. It would appear that I can't be sure of that now and as the deal is for upgrades and the only thing making them "full" was the EU ruling, which may not still be in force by the time they ship, it's possible that people who pre-ordered will get upgrades and not full versions. I would imagine Microsoft will be quite within their rights to do that, as that's what the deal is supposed to be for.

I suppose I should just wait and let the dust settle...

It's still an order, whether it was cancelled or not. It's like pre-book, pre-release, pre-plan... I mean, WTF does pre-plan actually mean?

Ah yes, but at this stage it's only an invitation to treat. The "contract" is only formed when your card is charged and the order is shipped.

Surley for geeks and geekettes like ourselves wheather it's upgrade or full is irelevant as we all know once you have a valid serial you can do almost anything so if you buy a cheapo versus a full the only thing it will cost is the time it takes to install .

Having read all of this now, I feel like it might be too good to be true. I know it's up to me, but do people think I should buy it? Presumably, I can cancel my "pre-order" at any time up to October 22nd and once we have a definite answer on what's going on, I can go from there. No?

I don't want an upgrade version, but I don't care if what I get is OEM, retail, "E" (without browser), or regular. As long as it's not an upgrade. I want a full clean install. Am I missing something? Is anybody else gonna go for it?
