Well if I'm driving, it'd make sense to stop off with you lot then head on up to their place in Basingstoke for the evening, then home again straight from Thruxton.

If anyone's going from London/ the South East and is driving or knows roughly the cost on the train, I'd be most appreciative if you could PM me. :)

Sounds like a sort of plan, there Alun.

If you want to swap mobile numbers we can maybe make an arrangement. Drop me a PM.

Train cost is about £40 if you book in advance on the internet.

Well, whatever happens, after Friday this week you're on your own. You'll need to make arrangements for the 15th among yourselves.

Tom, I know it's an imposition, but can you keep an eye on numbers likely to attend and sort out the arrangements for the venue and such? Thank 'ee.

As of Saturday I shall be out of internet reach almost completely (the parents haven't bothered with it because neither is what you'd call computer literate, and they're the happier for it in my estimation). I'll have my phone with me, and I'm happy to PM anyone the number so we can sort ourselves out nearer the time.

Really looking forward to it now! :D

Crap crap crap. Turns out they want to do Thruxton on the Saturday.
So I'm probably going to push that, drive up to them Saturday night after you lot, and see them on the Sunday.

Other people can be so awkward, don't you find?

Make sure you don't overdo it, mind. If it meant missing the meetup, I'd rather you stayed safe and well. ;)

I hope you have better weather than I’ve had. Lyme Regis was a wash-out - overcast, rain, more rain. We ended up in Pecorama in Beer (Heather will know the name Peco from model railways). We have basically been planning where we go so that we have cover to dive for if it rains. In fact today has been the first day where rain has not featured highly.

Sigh - back home on Friday, and then a week of dossing around Essex.

Mind you, the car was a real mess yesterday. Never get stuck behind a tractor pulling bales of hay in heavy rain! I took a couple of pictures when we got to a stopping place. Most of it has come off today.

Well, initial forecasts for the next couple of days look okay, so thanks for clearing the bad stuff for us Paul. ;)

Later this evening I shall unsticky this thread. If there are any last minute stragglers that want to drop by the Blue Vinny in Puddletown, Dorset, around lunchtime on Saturday 15 August, you're more than welcome.

Just pipe up here, or wherever this thread gets to later during the week, and let Tom B know you're likely to come so he can warn the pub's proprietors.

See you there!
