clicky
though only to big spenders allegedly

So T-Mobile has imported an unknown number of iPhone 3G handsets from a European distributor, which it will be supplying to customers paying more than £75 a month if they threaten to leave - the latter clause enforced by allocating the handsets through 50 agents in the retentions department, and limiting those agents to three a week each.

I can't see how they are allowed to do this, when o2 were given exclusivity?

Are these handsets unlocked, or locked to T(errible)-Mobile?

So that's where my iPhone has gone!

T-Mobile are currently stating up to 5 weeks waiting period to deliver iPhones! But only if you 'phone them, otherwise the status on the website just says that the order is being processed...

I don't see how it can be stopped. Any product that can be legally sold in one EU country can be legally sold in any of the others. So an unlocked iPhone bought in France is perfectly legal in the UK.

There are exemptions, particularly on public health grounds.

Aren't T Mobile the iPhone supplier in Germany? Couldn't they argue that UK users are on a German contract, but just charge them Uk prices?

O2 were given exclusivity in the UK, T-Mobile got it in Germany just like AT&T have it in the states.
