Pukka Pie Chicken and Mushroom is ace!

If its a nice chippy with fresh cod i'd defo go for fish and chips.

I like haddock, but they never have any cooked, so usually end up with cod. I wish they'd offer more sustainable options and whack the price up on the less sustainable ones. Maybe the government should tax the less sustainable fish.

I go more often than I should.

I have different food every time I go: Fish & mushy peas, battered sausage, battered burger, pie & curry, donner meat, fish cake etc

Mmmm pie.

On a slightly more perverse note, I remember my cousin telling me of a takeaway selling deep-fried calzone pizza!

Scotland, no doubt. I remember seeing a photo of what a scottish chippie was selling as a 'full supper'. Basically it was a pizza box and what it looked like they'd done is gone round the chippie and put a portion of each thing they sell into the pizza box. Not wrapped or anything, all in there mixed together.

The photo made me feel physically ill.

Yup, though I've never seen it in a chippy myself; I do enjoy a lovely haggis supper, whenever I return to my birthplace.

I'm fairly opened minded about trying new food, but I draw the line at deep-fried pizza.

This thread really isn't making my diet any easier

I've stopped going to my local chippie after a series of price jacking - before they started to charge £2.10 for a small (as in v.small) bag o' chips, I used to get chips & battered jumbo sausage(s) - which I would sometimes have with beans cooked at home (slowly so they go Little Chef stodgy) as no chip shop I have ever been to has sold extras at a reasonable rate...

But of late some of us at work have been taking advantage of a £5 lunch deal at a nearby chippy - which is pretty good (I get the Hake when I can) - and recently in St. Ives I ordered grilled mackeral fillets and got 12 of the blighters - now they were gooooood.

Now normally I like to have the chicken and mushroom pukka pie with chips.

But our local chippy is under new managment, and I am not paying £3 for a pukka pie. Sorry.

Sam likes the chips there, and that's all he's been eating for the past week, chippy chips and I'd cook him something to go with it. His latest obsession is chippy chips and peters mince beef pie. Smotherd in HP. Lol

Don't get me started on Scottish chippies. I went into the one in Dyce once and asked for a pie. I watched in horror as they threw one in the deep fat fryer. I've seen them do that with pizza there too.
Scotland is the only place I've ever seen something called a "Mock Chop" on the menu.

They also do this strange thing called a 'Red Pudding'. I'm sure it's made from all the bits that the manufacturers reject for sausages...

Fish, Chicken & Mushroom Pukka Pie or Haggis for me - not fussed on the price as the wife pays...
