Rival network operators Orange and T-Mobile expected to snap up the in-vogue handset Although there has been plentiful speculation about O2 losing its iPhone exclusivity over the last few weeks, PCR's sister title Mobile Entertainment has seen documentation that states it will end officially on October 9th. O2 signed its original deal with Apple in late 2007, and is believed to have the rights to sell the iPhone to 2012. However, the exclusive arrangement lasts only for two years – although sources say that O2 may retain sole rights to the recently launched the iPhone 3G 2. Source

That's what I heard, other operators can sell the 3G, but the 3GS will remain exclusive for the time being...

I've got the 3G at the moment. I have no compelling urge to upgrade to the S, so I suppose I could switch in 6 months time if I wanted to.
I think it's unlikely that I will considering how good o2 generally are. I've had a whole load of problems with Orange in the past.
T-Mobile are crap too, and they're up for sale so service may well be on the way down-hill.

I switched to the 3G-S and it's not a great deal better than the 3G, the camera's better & it does video recording but that's all I really noticed. It's not much faster than my old one

The thing is, whilst it's never a good thing to have a handset locked to a specific network, I quite like 02.
I've been with Orange for 10yrs and then 18mths ago, I took on an additional phone with 02. They've been brilliant. At the end of the contract, I chose to go SIM only to save money and not be tied in. I went to Orange, because they had the best package, but I've already had two outages and their service just isn't as good as 02's. Not to mention the 02 website is superior for bills etc.

For me it's the 32GB. I've happily filled my iPod touch 16GB, and am debating whether it's worth hopping to the 32GB touch in the interim, or waiting until I can justify a 3GS

My contract is up in April, so I may upgrade to the 3GS or if there is an iPhone 4 by then, I will consider that as at the moment it does not appear to be worth moving from the 3G to the 3GS It will be interesting to see what Orange and T-Mobile's contract bundles will be but I am more than happy with 02.
